Beijing, MINA – Otoritas kesehatan China pada Sabtu (14/1) melaporkan hampir 60.000 kematian terkait COVID hanya dalam waktu sebulan, angka kematian besar pertama yang dirilis oleh pemerintah sejak pelonggaran pembatasan virus pada awal Desember.

China mencatat 59.938 kematian terkait COVID antara 8 Desember 2022 hingga 12 Januari tahun ini,” kata Jiao Yahui, Kepala Biro Administrasi Medis di bawah Komisi Kesehatan Nasional China, demikian CNA melaporkan.

Angka tersebut merujuk pada kematian yang tercatat di fasilitas medis, dengan jumlah total korban yang cenderung lebih tinggi.

“Itu termasuk 5.503 kematian yang disebabkan oleh kegagalan pernafasan langsung karena virus, dan 54.435 kematian yang disebabkan oleh penyakit yang mendasari dikombinasikan dengan COVID-19,” ujar Jiao kepada wartawan dalam konferensi pers.

Dari pasien yang meninggal, 90,1 persen berusia 65 tahun ke atas.

Jiao mengatakan, pasien COVID-19 dan rawat inap darurat telah memuncak, namun saat ini jumlah pasien COVID-19 yang dirawat di rumah sakit terus menurun.

“Secara nasional, jumlah pengunjung klinik demam umumnya cenderung menurun setelah puncaknya, baik di kota maupun di pedesaan,” katanya. (T/R6/P1)
